In the beginning of the first lockdown, I found myself suddenly with a lot of free time. I decided to try things that was not part of my normal routine - DIY! A friend of mine recommended YouTuber Laura Kampf, a “maker” who makes all sorts of clever things with scrapped material that she’s collected over time. After 6 months of pouring over her videos while sawing / drilling / sanding bits of wood, I randomly had a chance to speak with my hero in a podcast! (bearing in mind I don’t even like talking on the phone) We chatted about cultural and gender perception of using tools, getting outside of comfort zone by doing something different, hilarious stories of a street covered with snails exploding from eating hops… My final conclusion is: where there’s an opportunity, grab it with both hands (then panic later).
